African-American archaeology in Missouri is in the beginning stages of development, but recent archaeological work has shown an increased interest in the African Diaspora. This paper will discuss the role archaeology has played in recording Missouri’s black heritage. In this discussion, Baumann outlines the development, research strategies, and future goals of African-American archaeology in Missouri, highlighting case studies as examples.
