Description
Northeastern New Mexico is the scene of a rich, albeit poorly understood, cultural heritage beginning at least as long ago as 11,000 years. This portion of the High Plains lies between the physiographic sections of the Southern Rocky Mountains to the west and the Southern High Plains to the east. Movements of peoples over the millennia resulted in the encounter and exchange of ideas and culture traits that make for a compelling history of a land and its inhabitants.
