Laura Anderson – Women, the Sick and Others Left Behind

Major Laura Kay Anderson is the Senior Historian for the Mormon Battalion Association and past secretary of the Crossroads Chapter of OCTA. Laura is a founding member of the Early Saints Research Group.

How did the dependents of the Mormon Battalion fare?  Laura will tell the story of the Battalion and the situation in which their families found themselves. Using individual stories of the families, she will discuss the families left behind in the Omaha area and how they were helped.

Description

Major Laura Kay Anderson is the Senior Historian for the Mormon Battalion Association and past secretary of the Crossroads Chapter of OCTA. Laura is a founding member of the Early Saints Research Group.

Laura has spent the last 10 years as a Church Service Missionary at the LDS Church History Department.  Laura has worked on the Overland Trails Project, a recently released book, The First Fifty Years of the Relief Society, with an associated web page and the Early Mormon Missionaries Database, and others. Laura is an avid scouter, having received both the Silver Beaver award and the Great Salt Lake Council’s Influential Women’s recognition.
