The 800-foot high Scotts Bluff above the North Platte River served as a landmark to emigrants on the Oregon, California and Mormon trails. Visitors can see trail-related sites and wagon ruts and drive to the top of the bluff.

Gering, Nebraska

To reach the national monument:

From I-80 exit at Kimball, Nebraska and drive 45 miles north on U.S. Highway 71. Follow National Park Service signs three miles west of Gering, Nebraska on Old Oregon Trail (State Highway 92 West).

The site is open to the public and administered by the National Park Service.
