Chimney Rock is one of the most famous and recognizable landmarks on the Oregon, California and Mormon Trails. The towering spire is the most mentioned landmark in overland diaries and journals.

Location

Near Bayard, Nebraska

The Chimney Rock Visitor Center is 1.5 miles south of Highway 92 on Chimney Rock Road near Bayard, Nebraska. The national historic site is approximately 4 miles south of Bayard, at the south edge of the North Platte River Valley.

The site is open to the public and is administered by the Nebraska State Historical Society.
