Bulk of this book consists of extracts from overland diaries that the author has found during the course of his career as a professional historian. These extracts contain only portions of the diaries referring to incidents along the Lander Road, a distance of 256 miles in southwest Wyoming to Fort Hall on the Snake River in southeast Idaho.
