This prestigious society is named for Merrill J. Mattes, the former Superintendent of Scotts Bluff National Monument, Platte River Road historian and a founding member of OCTA.

This membership can be for an individual or a family. As a members of this society you will receive the same benefits as the Trail Patron member. Additionally, you receive a 15% discount on all OCTA merchandise. You may also choose two free publications from selected stock (OCTA publications only).

You are entitled to two votes in OCTA’s annual elections. You receive the Overland Journal, OCTA’s quarterly scholarly journal and News From The Plains, OCTA’s quarterly newsletter. You are invited to OCTA annual conventions and symposia.

As at all levels of membership, you have the opportunity to join a local OCTA chapter, and you will have access to a members-only section of OCTA’s website (www.octa-trails.org).
