2003 OCTA Convention Tour Guide (Manhattan, KS)


This guide covers the three tours conducted during the 2003 OCTA Convention in Manhattan, Kansas. All focused on the oldest route of the Oregon-California Trail, which was called the Independence Road. (Independence, Elm Grove, the junction of the Santa Fe Trail and Oregon Trail, Bull Creek, Blue Mound, the Wakarusa River, Big Springs, Coon Point, Papan’s Ferry, Union Town, the Kansas Methodist Mission, the Baptist Potawatomi Mission, St. Mary’s Mission, Red Vermillion River crossing, Rock Creek crossing and campground, Black Vermillion River crossing, Alcove Spring, the Independence crossing of the Big Blue River and the St. Joseph Road.)
