This site contains the grave of 25-year old George Winslow of Newton Upper Falls, Massachusetts, who was headed for the California goldfields. He died on June 8, 1849, of cholera. His original inscribed headstone is now incorporated in a granite monument erected and dedicated in 1912.

Location

About 4 miles north of Fairbury, Nebraska

From Fairbury, go north on Nebraska 15 for about 4 miles from intersection with U.S. 136. Turn west on a gravel road. Proceed for about 1.5 miles to a gate into the pasture. If the gate is open, cars may be driven on the obvious land to the gravesite. If the gate is closed, walk the easy ¼ mile to the site.

The site is on private property but is open to the public.
