Catherine Bonnett Butts Grave

Overview
This is the grave of Catherine Bonnett Butts, born in 1812 in Virginia. She died on October 2, 1845, on the Meek Cutoff Route of the Oregon Trail. A family friend’s diary noted “October 5 . . . Heare we beried Missis Butts and 3 More.” There are more graves in the vicinity, all unidentified. Forty-four descendants attended a marker dedication at the grave on June 4, 1988.
