This week, the OCTA Board of Directors held an online vote to decide whether to hold or postpone the Elko, Nevada convention next September. In a unanimous vote, the board voted to POSTPONE the convention in Elko until 2021. Working with convention chair Helen Hankins, we were able to quickly redo our contracts with the convention center, hotels, and bus company and we are pleased to announce the new dates of September 13-16, 2021.
The board vote also included making a decision about the scheduled Casper, Wyoming convention, previously scheduled for August/September 2021. After a conference call with the Wyoming Chapter gaining their support for pushing their convention back a year, they have tentatively set the dates August 28-September 3, 2022 as the date for their convention.
OCTA’s board waited as long as possible to make this difficult decision and made it with the health and welfare of our volunteers and attendees foremost in their minds. We will remain active as an organization throughout the summer and into the autumn, but we will roll announcements out singularly so as not to dilute this message.
Thank you for your support and understanding at this difficult time of living with COVID-19. We truly appreciate your membership and volunteerism and we look forward to seeing you all out on the trail very soon.
