Overview of Preservation Training

The contents of OCTA’s preservation training program are summarized as an introduction to the more extensive briefings that follow. OCTA’s preservation training is focused on three components: monitoring, mapping and marking.

Monitoring

OCTA’s approach to monitoring the condition and status of trails is described. Laws and regulations are summarized. Organizing chapter efforts is described.

Mapping

The use of OCTA’s Mapping Emigrant Trails Guide is described. Trail classifications are defined along with other trail-related terms. Mapping examples are presented.
